About FFM/C

Family Foundation Management/Counsel LLC helps individuals and families fully realize their philanthropic aspirations. We're not wealth managers or investment advisors. We are intensely and solely focused on a client's needs and philanthropic aspirations.

Hank Goldstein, FFM/C's founder, has decades of experience working for charities, boards and high net worth individuals. Hank is especially skilled in assessing charitable institutions. As a consultant he serves nonprofit boards; as a volunteer he has led several. The core of his practice is working closely, confidentially and easily with high impact donors and their families.

FFM/C

  • Helps new and emerging family foundations develop a strategic focus for their philanthropy.

  • Provides a sensitive understanding of the intergenerational issues that may affect family philanthropy and arm's length counsel in resolving those conflicts.

  • Brings guidance in inviting and evaluating grant proposals submitted on paper or through your foundation's website; selection of grantees; grants management; qualitative and quantitative assessments of grantees' performance; schedules accompanied or unaccompanied site visits.

  • Encourages, and advises on, the importance and value of networking with other foundations and donors to foster more effective philanthropy.

  • Closely cooperates with you and your family's legal and financial team.
  • Affluent Americans say their financial advisors too often talk about charitable giving in ways that are technical, focusing on tax breaks rather than their clients' philanthropic goals or missions, according to a study by US Trust and the Philanthropic Initiative.
